Scheduling: I take signings evenings and weekends. If your borrower needs a weekday-daytime table, ask — it is sometimes possible, but I would rather tell you up front than tie up an order.
For borrowers
If your lender or title company scheduled me, here is the short version of what to expect.
A closing package runs anywhere from 80 to 150 pages, and a normal signing takes45 minutes to an hour. I will point out the documents that matter most — the note, the deed of trust, the closing disclosure — and give you time to read anything you want to read.
What I cannot do is explain terms or advise you. If a number looks wrong or a term surprises you, the right move is to stop and call your loan officer. That is not an inconvenience; that is the whole point of having a signing where you can still ask.
Have ready
- Valid, unexpired photo ID for every person on the loan
- Any cashier's check your closer asked you to bring
- All signers present at the same time
